The two brothers Ferdinand and Alphonse de Langle decide in 1857 to build a modern chateau, next to the old manor house des Tesnières. The locally well known architect Jacquel Mellet, who also built the Château de la Bicheptière, makes the design. It has been built in the, in those days, very popular Renaissance style. The de Langle family move in 1867 and in the same year the old manor house was torn down. |

Count Pierre de Langle, the maire of Torcé, lives in the château until WWII, together with his wife and 8 children. During the war the Germans occupy the château for a certain while. After the war, the de Langle family decides to stay in Rennes and the château is only used as a holiday house.
In 1976 M and Mme Carret buy the château and start renovations works. The château turned out to be in a very bad state at the moment. |
